Eileen Lauterborn is a native New Yorker whose educational background includes a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MA from New York University, as well as many other professional Art studies. She was an Art teacher and Painter before she began Art Quilting.

Eileen's work has been included in many group and one and two person shows. Among the most outstanding are Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, Stanford University, Bennington Center for the Arts, South Carolina State Museum, International Quilt Festival, Best of SAQA and Focus Fiber '06.

She was one of the Quilt Artists to be featured in the Quilt Visions '04 show in San Diego,CA as well as Art Quilts at the Sedgwick '06 and Art Quilts Elements '09. Her work is included in many private collections and has received much critical acclaim and awards for outstanding work.

When asked to describe her work, Eileen says, "My quilts are an exploration of the rich visual properties of color and line that define, energize and animate the quilt surface. While working, images come and go and are informed by my emotions. This is an ever-changing process that is challenging, surprising, exciting and finally satisfying."
